Jobs for Youth Ages 15-20

Project WHAT! a program of Community Works is now hiring youth ages 15-20 who have had a parent in prison or jail. Youth work together to increase awareness about what it’s like to have a parent in prison or jail, and to improve services and policies. These part-time positions start in June, and pay $8-$12/hour. Motivational Speakers needed at Deuel Vocational Institution

Deuel Vocational Institution in Tracy has established a weekly “Multicultural Motivational Development Program,” to be held each Saturday 10:00am-12:00pm inside the institution for inmates. They are seeking motivational speakers who have personal stories of success after prison, and practical information about community based resources available to inmates upon release. Training on Grants to Serve Veterans – US Veterans Administration

This face-to-face TA seminar provides a comprehensive overview of the VA Homeless Providers Grant and Per Diem Program including program components, purposes and eligible activities. Participants will learn about the grant application process including timing and issuance of Notices of Funding Availability (NOFAs), application submission requirements, scoring and award processes. The DOJ is soliciting applications from non-profits and Indian tribes for programs to provide comprehensive mentorship to incarcerated adults in jails and prisons. Come to a local information session to hear an overview of this federal funding opportunity, and partake in a conversation about potential collaborations. This is a highly competitive national competition. If possible, please read the announcement in advance (scroll down for full information), and bring your key staff, best ideas, and openness to collaborate. This session is intended to be a resource for San Francisco non-profits interested in pulling together a winning application(s). All are welcome. Second Chance Act Mentoring Grants to Non-Profit Organizations Bureau of Justice Assistance U.S. Department of Justice

Eligible Applicants: non-profit organizations and federally recognized Indian tribes. Proposals must include the following components: Mentoring offenders during incarceration, through transition back to the community, and post-release; transitional services to assist in the reintegration of offenders into the community; training regarding offender and victims issues.

Awards are for up to $300,000 and for 24 months. Full RFP.
