Posted by Jessica Flintoft • September 27th, 2010

San Francisco is awarded 3 more Second Chance Act grants The federal Second Chance Act (SCA) authorized the creation of a number of new federal funding programs to support successful prisoner reentry programs. Last year, the City/County of San Francisco—in partnership with community based organizations—received the SCA Juvenile Demonstration Grant and the SCA Adult Demonstration Grant. Last week, three more San Francisco awards were announced: SCA Reentry Court Grant Program; SCA Reentry Demonstration Program: Targeting Offenders with Co-occurring Substance Abuse and Mental Health Disorders; and the SCA Family-Based Prisoner Substance Abuse Treatment Program. San Francisco did not apply for the SCA Technology Careers Training Program, and no San Francisco-based non-profit organizations were awarded the SCA Mentoring Grants. For a current list of SCA awards recently announced, see here: http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/funding/10grantawards.htm
