Human Rights Commission Forum for Public Input on Consideration of Prior Arrests & Convictions in Employment

The San Francisco Human Rights Commission will host two public forums in order to obtain more information from the public on the best ways to reduce recidivism and afford equal opportunities and personal privacy in employment and housing to persons with prior arrests and/or convictions. Members of the public are encouraged to come and share their ideas for increasing protections for persons with prior arrest and conviction records while maintaining public safety and ensuring continued vitality of San Francisco’s business and housing industries.

Reentry Council Public Discussion of Public Safety Realignment Plan

On Wednesday July 20, 10:00am-12:00pm, the Reentry Council will host a public discussion of San Francisco’s Public Safety Realignment & Post Release Community Supervision 2011 Implementation Plan. The discussion will be held at City Hall, Room 305. This event will provide members of the public the opportunity to learn about San Francisco’s plan for responding to criminal justice realignment as authorized in AB 109. Insight Prison Project Facilitator Training for Incarcerated Populations

In September, the Insight Prison Project (IPP) is offering a multi-phase Facilitator Training for Incarcerated Populations, based on the Restorative Justice Victim Offender Education Group (VOEG) model of group facilitation started at San Quentin State Prison. The multi-phase training model will provide support, evaluation and experiential exercises in an effort to better prepare facilitators to implement and run their own groups with incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals. 9th Annual Senior Ex-Offender Project In the Trenches Ceremony

Join the Bayview Hunter’s Point Multipurpose Senior Services for the 9th Annual In the Trenches Ceremony. All proceeds support the Center’s programs, including the Senior Ex-Offender Project, the nation’s first program dedicated to meeting the needs of older people exiting prisons and jails.

The In the Trenches Awards is a ceremony that recognizes Change Agents, Change Makers, Honorary Change Makers and Community Recognitions for those who works unselfishly in the trenches helping others. Sheriff Hennessey and over a dozen other individuals working in San Francisco will be honored.

The dinner will be catered by MPSS with music by Jay’e and Friends. The Master of Ceremony is the world renowned actor Barry ‘Shabaka’ Henley and the Mistress of Ceremony is singer Lolita Sweet, both from the Bay Area.
