The SF Community Corrections Partnership Executive Committee approved the 2011 Public Safety Realignment Plan at its meeting of August 18, 2011. The Plan be considered by the Board of Supervisors for adoption next month.

8th Annual BMAGIC Back-to-School Celebration

BMAGIC will host its annual Back-to-School celebration, including the Backpack Give-away Program, which provides over 3,000 backpacks stuffed with school supplies to children in the community. BMAGIC will serve fresh organic fruit and feature local entertainment showcasing youth talent. Children and their families will also be able to access free health, wellness, and financial services in addition to participating in fun activities and games. Seven Seats on Reentry Council Open–Apply Now! Deadline for Mayoral Appointment Applications is Friday August 19th

Seven members of the Reentry Council have just completed their 2-year terms after serving since the Reentry Council’s formal launch in July 2009. These seven seats are now open, and must be filled by people who are formerly incarcerated as former inmates of the San Francisco County Jail, a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation facility, and/or a United States Bureau of Prison facility.

The Mayor appoints three of these seven members. All members of the Council are exempt from the Charter requirement that they be electors of the City and County of San Francisco. All members serve two-year terms, and serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority. Members may serve multiple terms on the Reentry Council.

Interested individuals may apply to either the Mayor or the Board of Supervisors for appointment to the Reentry Council.

To apply for appointment by the Mayor:

1) Download and complete the Mayoral Application for Appointment to Reentry Council (available here in MS Word or here as PDF.)

2) All completed applications and any attachments thereto must be RECEIVED by no later than 5:00pm on Friday, August 19, 2011. Completed applications may be submitted via postal mail, FAX, or e-mail to the attention of Jessica Flintoft, Reentry Policy Director, Reentry Council of San Francisco, 555 7th Street, San Francisco, CA 94103. To apply for appointment by the Board of Supervisors:

1) Review the Reentry Council Vacancy Notice posted by the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors. General additional information about Board appointments is available here.

2) Complete two applications: 1) the Board of Supervisors Application for Boards, Commissions, and Committees, and 2) the Supplemental Application for Board Appointees to Reentry Council (available here in MS Word or here as PDF.)

3) Please download, complete, and submit both applications to: Clerk’s Office, Board of Supervisors, 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, Room 244, San Francisco, CA 94102-4689.
