New Reentry Division and Opportunities to Join the Team
Since 2007, the Public Defender’s Office has provided primary staffing for the Reentry Council and related efforts. The advent of Public Safety Realignment provided the City/County of San Francisco with the opportunity to reassess how to best staff collaborative efforts to meet the needs of people returning from jails and prisons. To that end, City leaders established the Reentry Division of the Adult Probation Department which now directs collaborative efforts to promote policy, operational practices, and supportive services to effectively implement Public Safety Realignment, coordinate reentry services for returning adults, and engage diverse stakeholders in Citywide planning. The Reentry Division provides lead staff for the Reentry Council of San Francisco, as well as the Community Corrections Partnership and its Executive Committee. The Adult Probation Department is hiring a Chief of Research, Reentry Policy Coordinator, and Reentry Services Coordinator who will join Jennifer Scaife and me in the Reentry Division. All interested in applying should read more about the division and positions here; applications are due by no later than Friday October 21st.
Seeking a Campaign Manager to Reduce California’s Overreliance on Incarceration

The intent of this effort is to create an initiative grounded in strategic partnerships that can accelerate the change made possible by the current policy and budget environment in order to reduce the number of lower-risk individuals incarcerated in California prisons and jails. The Campaign Manager will lead all aspects of this initiative. All interested in applying should read more about the campaign and position here; applications are due by October 31st.
