Request for Proposals (RFP) for Community Assessment and Service Center
On January 23rd, the San Francisco Adult Probation Department released a Request for Proposals to identify a highly qualified non-profit or for-profit entity, or collaboration of such entities, that will establish and operate a Reentry Community Assessment and Service Center (CASC). The requirements of the Local Business Enterprise and Non-Discrimination in Contracting Ordinance set forth in Chapter 14B of the San Francisco Administrative Code apply to this RFP. The RFP is available here. Be part of Getting Out & Staying Out
The Reentry Council is updating and revamping its popular resource guide Getting Out & Staying Out: A Guide to San Francisco Resources for People Leaving Jails and Prisons, and we need your help! Please take the time to complete the Survey of Services and Programs for People Returning from Jails and Prisons (available in Word and as PDF) and return to us by no later than Friday February 17th at 5:00pm. We will use the information to inform the Reentry Council’s work to identify gaps in service availability for adults returning to San Francisco, and to update the Getting Out & Staying Out guide which is intended for adults who are incarcerated and soon to be released, and also for formerly incarcerated individuals living in San Francisco. Please let us know if you have questions about the survey or suggestions about how we can make this guide even more useful.
New Staff Joins the Reentry Division
The advent of Public Safety Realignment provided the City/County of San Francisco with the opportunity to reassess how to best staff collaborative efforts to meet the needs of people returning from jails and prisons. To that end, City leaders established the Reentry Division of the Adult Probation Department which now directs collaborative efforts to promote policy, operational practices, and supportive services to effectively implement Public Safety Realignment, coordinate reentry services for returning adults, and engage diverse stakeholders in Citywide planning. The Reentry Division provides lead staff for the Reentry Council of San Francisco, as well as the Community Corrections Partnership and its Executive Committee. We are thrilled to welcome Lauren Bell, Reentry Services Manager; Veronica Martinez, Reentry Policy Coordinator; and Leah Rothstein, Research Director as they join Jennifer Scaife, Reentry Resources Coordinator and me here in the Reentry Division of the Adult Probation Department.

Entrepreneurship Class Open Now
Do you have a business idea or are you interested in learning about self-employment? Project ReMade, Reentry: Making a Difference Through Entrepreneurship, is recruiting applicants to participate in a series of free workshops which will provide comprehensive entrepreneurship training, leadership development, and mentoring to women who were released from prison 1-5 years ago. Classes will be held February through May 2012 on the San Francisco State University campus and will be taught by students from the Stanford Law School. An orientation to the program will be held at the San Francisco Public Library at 100 Larkin Street, Sycip Family Conference Room (4thFloor) on Tuesday January 24th 6:00pm-8:00pm. Seeking Book Donations
The Reentry Division of the Adult Probation Department is seeking book donations to distribute to people on community supervision in San Francisco. We’re looking for a wide variety of gently used books, including: nonfiction (exercise, travel, parenting, history, biographies, etc.); fiction (novels, bestsellers, mysteries, etc.); children’s books (all ages); and poetry. Please, no magazines or textbooks. Change to SF Parole Office and PACT Meeting Location
The SF 4 Parole Office has closed. PACT Meetings continue to be held weekly on Tuesdays at 10:00am, and are now held at the San Francisco Parole offices at 1727 Mission Street (at 13th and Duboce).
