Getting Out & Staying Out: A Guide to San Francisco Resources for People Leaving Jails and Prisons.
This comprehensive resource guide was first published in 2007 and was the product of a collaborative reentry planning process focused on improving access to resources for individuals reintegrating into San Francisco communities after incarceration. Since the first issue, more than 14,000 copies have been distributed to inmates, previously incarcerated people, family members, corrections staff, probation and parole officers and reentry partners.
This is the 2010/2011 edition of the guide, 2nd Printing.
The full guide is a large document. If you have a slower internet connection, you may want to download the Guide in sections. See below.
Please download, copy, and distribute this Guide as widely as you wish, to support the successful reentry of people returning from prisons and jails. If you have access to a computer and printer, we encourage you to download the guide for free from this site and print as many copies as you like, either as a whole or in chapter sections (see below). We also have a limited number of bound copies which we are able to distribute to individuals who are in custody or are out of custody but homeless, in treatment programs, or are otherwise unable to access this information online.
To request a hard copy of Getting Out & Staying Out, for yourself, to request that a copy be sent to someone else, including someone in jail or prison, or to make suggestions for future printings of the guide, please contact reentry.council@sfgov.org or call (415) 553-1593.
