Call for Proposals for 2011 Centerforce Conference: Due June 22nd

Centerforce is hosting its national conference on October 24-25 in San Francisco. Policy makers, practitioners, and other leaders are encouraged to submit a workshop or poster session for the Summit. Proposals will be evaluated on how well the session objectives and design contribute to the filed, exhibit creativity or innovation, or show promising evaluation results. Examples include, but are not limited to: women in prison, alternatives to prison, issues related to HIV and other health challenges, children of incarcerated parents, fathers in the criminal justice system, mental health and substance abuse, vocational training, advocacy, partnerships, and risk and domestic violence assessment in reentry planning.

Proposals for workshops should be 1 hour and 15 minutes long. Proposals for poster displays should be 36 inches by 36 inches. Proposals are due by no later than 5:00pm on Wednesday June 22nd. Applicants will be notified of results by July 18th. See here to learn more or to submit a proposal.

 

New resource for Transwomen in Prison

Written by and for transgendered women who are serving time in state prison, where people are assigned to an institution for males or females based on his/her biological sex and without consideration of his/her gender identity. Compiled with the support of SF Department of Public Health’s Forensic AIDS Project and the TGI Justice Project, this guide is available here to share and distribute freely to anyone who may benefit.
