Young Mothers United, a workshop series for moms age 16-24
The Center for Young Women’s Development is launching a weekly workshop for young moms between the ages of 16-24, Young Mothers United. For young moms who have ever been in jail or prison and away from their babies, this weekly workshop will provide support for women who are nervous about parenting, have lost custody, or are searching for a safe space to talk about related concerns. Free food and childcare available. Earn $25 for each workshop. Must enroll to participate and commit to all 12 workshops, held every Monday from 4:00pm-6:00pm, starting Monday November 14th. Need gently used guitars
Five Keys Charter School is seeking donations of about 25 gently used acoustic guitars. They hope to offer a music class for inmates of SF County Jail. If you have a guitar that you used to play, maybe wish you played, but don’t play, please consider donating it. The Center on Juvenile and Criminal Justice is seeking motivated and qualified people to join their team. Two positions are available serving youth in the juvenile justice system, a Wrap-around Rehabilitation Counselor and a Clinical Case Manager Placement Diversion Reentry Program. SF Scores Second Chance Act Award
The Adult Probation Department received a FY2011 Second Chance Act Adult Offender Reentry Program for Planning and Demonstration Projects grant to implement Reentry SF, a comprehensive reentry pathway for people on post-release community supervision in San Francisco. This multi-agency effort will provide individuals exiting jail and state prison with prerelease planning, immediate post-release support, case management, job training and placement, and a variety of other needed services. Formerly Incarcerated and Convicted People’s Movement Strategy Session
FICPM Strategy Session: Strengthening Our Actions & Voices through Unity is an opportunity for formerly incarcerated people and their allies to convene to develop a national platform. Workshops will cover areas of juvenile justice, get out the vote of formerly incarcerated people, mass incarceration, band ban the box.
